Jesus was killed as a result of political motivations and strategy. He was absurdly and wrongly executed. And Jesus knew it would happen. With this in mind, you might think the question we need to ponder together is, what are you willing to die for? Instead, however, we’re asking this one: What are you willing to live for? We’re going to look practically at John 19:1-16, what Jesus was willing to live for, and how that can inform our decisions for November 5 and long after that.
Data shows that most people are exhausted at even the thought of politics. Additionally, most people don’t have hope in politics, and they definitely don’t want to hear more from the church on the subject. So, why talk about it? Politics has such a giant influence on our lives and our world, and as we’ll see, Jesus and his followers were more political than you’d think. These conversations will give us a helpful spiritual framework, hope, and practical thoughts for how faith and politics work together.
