Recent Messages

No big shocker here, but even in Jesus’s time, people were missing the mark with work and rest. There were leaders who were using their work–religious work!–to build themselves up, not to bring light, goodness, blessing, and life to God, self and others. And people were even taking God’s instructions about rest and turning them into burdensome regulations. But the Son of God comes to show us what a holy, restoring life of good work and rest looks like. As he’ll indicate, God created things like work and rest for humankind, not the other way around. This week, we’re going to look at how Jesus approached work and rest, and we’ll consider how we do likewise.

From the beginning, God creates humankind to work with God and like God and to rest with God and like God. A purposeful, balanced life is found in this. But it's easy to get out of sorts with work and rest. We do things like fuse our work with our identity. We miss out on the kind of deep, soulful rest that the Bible illustrates and Jesus embodied. In this series, we want to help people make their way back to working and resting with God and like God.
