When Jesus used the phrase “good news”, it was a BIG deal. He spoke as if the realm of heaven, God’s realm, had started to make its way to Earth. It was like a whole new era had begun, and Jesus was the one who came to start it…and eventually finish it. But here’s where it gets wild: Jesus also came to supernaturally transform our lives and call us to join in with this BIG Good News mission. When we join in and collaborate with Jesus, there is nothing more exciting. It’s what our lives are for.
A team at our church prayed and spent time discerning an answer to this question: If there was a committed, fruitful, flourishing apprentice of Jesus in our midst, how would we know it? What grew out of those meetings are what we call our HEC Discipleship Essentials. In this series, we're diving into those so that we gain clarity about what discipleship is really about and so that we live into the kind of life that Jesus promises.
