God sends people. God sends people to places and other people just as Jesus was sent to the Earth alongside outcasts and outlaws. One of the most important truths of Christianity is that God ultimately didn’t try to restore the world and save humankind from afar. God became flesh in a real place and real time alongside real people to reveal God’s heart and to make a new way on Earth for God’s kingdom. If we trust in Jesus and follow him, we will begin to discover a) how and why Jesus was sent to us and b) we will start to take seriously that the Holy Spirit sends us to others for a purpose that may not be clear yet.
