In the beginning, there was nothing, or at least nothing discernable. And over those formless “waters,” the Spirit of God hovered. God spoke. Light came into being and became distinct from darkness. God called the light good. That light became a sustaining force in creation. This same Spirit, the one that hovered over the darkness, is working in us and around us, creating and calling us to life, and inviting us into that work.
From Series: "On Fire: the Holy Spirit in Each Person"
When God created humankind, God placed a flame inside us. Jesus comes to show us what it looks like to live a life with more than a flickering flame. He comes to reveal to us God’s holy fire, to show us what it looks like to live a life completely on fire. Finally, he comes to prepare us to receive the same Spirit, the same Companion, the same Fire that fully set him on fire so that we will light up with the Glory that lights him up, so that we will be ignited in our unique place in the mission of God along with all of our brothers and sisters.
