On Fire: the Holy Spirit in Each Person, Finale

Message at 32:26. Last week, we looked at a guy named Saul who didn’t know what he didn’t know until he had a vision of the Risen Jesus that blinded him. He also didn’t eat anything or drink anything for three days. It was a terribly humbling and disorienting experience, to say the least. He could have denied what he saw and fought hard to go back to what he knew, what was comfortable. He didn’t. He accepted and embraced the unknown. He walked forward with Jesus, and surrendered to the wild movement of the Holy Spirit, even though it was very disorienting and uncomfortable. And as the Scripture says, “He got stronger and stronger.”

When God created humankind, God placed a flame inside us. Jesus comes to show us what it looks like to live a life with more than a flickering flame. He comes to reveal to us God’s holy fire, to show us what it looks like to live a life completely on fire. Finally, he comes to prepare us to receive the same Spirit, the same Companion, the same Fire that fully set him on fire so that we will light up with the Glory that lights him up, so that we will be ignited in our unique place in the mission of God along with all of our brothers and sisters.
