Experiencing wonder is not just about us. Along with the gratitude and joy we can encounter when we search for God’s gifts and presence, we can pursue curiosity and take responsibility. We can say to ourselves regularly, I wonder what I might get to experience with God today. I wonder what I may be given today. I wonder what might happen if I gave this away joyfully without expecting anything in return. The spiritual practice of wonder includes giving ourselves to something much greater than us, which is the truth anyhow.
In this series, we're exploring "the spiritual practice of wonder." There's a verse in the Bible that says, "The earth is the LORD's and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants too." We can be surprised by God all around us if we're looking, and this surprise can guide us to joy, gratitude, and responsibility even in dark times.
