Finding the Bible to Be Holy Again, vol. 2: the Bible and Authority

Message at 25:28. Can I trust the Bible has authority? That's a question that evokes many different responses and sometimes a lot of emotion. The trustworthiness of the Bible (and what that means) is a whole field of study in itself. Perhaps though, a more important question is whether I will allow the Bible to have authority in my life. That doesn’t mean I won't ever question anything. It means I’m open to seeking and listening and wrestling with the words I find because I believe I can find the heart of God in them. It means I see value in deepening my understanding of this text so I can better understand and be shaped by it. Matthew 7:24-29 invites us to consider these ideas and what they mean for our lives.

For many people, the Bible is at the very least...difficult. For lots of people, the Bible was once a place of inspiration and peace, but then it became a source of confusion and frustration. For others, the Bible has always symbolized pain and hurt. Even for people who have loved the Bible over the years, there are parts of the Bible that are disorienting. In this series, we want to help people find the Bible to be holy (again).
