Message at 32:15. It feels impossible to know what’s true in our current political climate. In our political climate, it’s common for people to value winning over being truthful. How do we discover what is truthful and support what is true and good? The starting place is to take seriously that what we’re seeing isn’t true and good, that we may be blind to what is truthful. Secondly, Jesus despised deceit, especially when used as a tool to elevate a person. We must hate deceit and pursue truthfulness relentlessly like Jesus.
Data shows that most people are exhausted at even the thought of politics. Additionally, most people don’t have hope in politics, and they definitely don’t want to hear more from the church on the subject. So, why talk about it? Politics has such a giant influence on our lives and our world, and as we’ll see, Jesus and his followers were more political than you’d think. These conversations will give us a helpful spiritual framework, hope, and practical thoughts for how faith and politics work together.
